One World Observatory: Best Panoramic View in NYC

A polka dot dress, a glass of wine and the best view in New York City what more can you ask for? While in NY I had the opportunity to visit the One World Observatory located in the One World Trade Center. It’s the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere standing at 1,776 feet and ready for your visit. One World Observatory offers one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of NYC which are located on floors 100, 101, & 102.

When you arrive, you will go through security screening before entering one of the state-of-the-art “Sky Pod” elevators which climb 102 stories in 60 seconds!! While in the elevator you will see a time-lapse video of New York City’s settlement to present day. I’m claustrophobic and scared of elevators, so thank goodness for this video. It really made for a smooth and quick ride. Before I knew it, we were on the 102 floor!

Once you’re at the top, you enter another room where you watch a video that briefly gives you taste of the excitement and liveliness of the city. It really does a great job in capturing it’s energy and what you see next will leave you, well….breathless! It was unexpected and I literally left like a child. They should have a camera recording everyone’s reaction. Just picture, eyes wide open and a smile that couldn’t possibly get any bigger! I think this says it all.

Make your way around the entire floor to take in every possible side of this magnificent city in a 360 view. Our tickets were for 7:30 which allowed us the opportunity to catch day and nighttime views including the sunset. If the bar is not crowded you might as well grab a drink at ONE Dine. Drink pricing is typical New York so if you’re on a budget maybe share one or check out the bar carts on the main observatory floor. I was a little disappointed that the bar/restaurant wasn’t what I was expecting so I kept reminding myself that it was all about the views…and it really was all about the views! If you are planning on dinning there, do make a reservation ahead of time and make it for at least 30 minutes after your scheduled arrival time at the Observatory. And note, you still need to purchase a ticket to the Observatory to go to the restaurant.

Though most people were causally dressed, most likely from site seeing all day, I chose to wear an off the shoulder polka dot dress. This dress is gorgeous, has an amazing fit, is super chic and of course sexy, so why not! I’m obsessed with the cutout detail in the front, the self-belt, and best of all, the side pockets. I LOVE dresses with pockets.

Fit: True to size. I’m wearing an XS. At 5’0 the length was perfect just right above the knees.
Fanciness Scale: On a scale from 1-5, 5 being very fancy, this dress in a 2.5, so right in the middle. You can wear it for a night out with nice heels or take it on your next trip and wear it with flats for a comfortably but not too casual look. It’s really great for any occasion.

Visiting the One World Observatory should be on your must-visit list next time you’re in New York City.
