Rent the Runway – My Experience

I love shopping. Is that a surprise? It’s probably one of the reasons why I’m a fashion blogger. I love buying pieces that I know I’ll wear over and over again. Plus, I love adding to my collection 🙂

Most of you are probably familiar with Rent the Runway. Prior to this, I had never used this service before. I was going to an out of town wedding with very little time to get a dress. Since this was an outdoor garden wedding, I chose to make my life easy and go with my blush tulle skirt (links to skirt can be found here), which I love and was perfect for the occasion. The issue I was having was finding the right top to pair it with. I found a few options but was not in love with them. For me, if I’m going to spend a lot of money on a single top, I have to LOVE it. That being said, since I couldn’t find the right top, I chose to go with Rent the Runway.

My sister, who has used this service before is also wearing a dress from there.  She chose two different style dresses which came with two free backup sizes. It’s definitely a great feature if your not sure how the dress might fit. In this case, it was perfect. She didn’t decide which dress/size to go with until the day of the wedding.

WHAT I LOVED ABOUT RENT THE RUNWAY

It’s a great way to test new designers or styles

They carry petite sizes, which is great since I’m 5’0

It’s great if you only plan on wearing that dress for a friends wedding and you will never wear it again. So why spend $300-$1000 when you can spend $30 or $50. Sounds like a deal to me.

They have great selections for your next vacation, wedding, business meeting or weekend parties.

WAYS TO RENT

RTR Reserve – you pay as you rent. You can borrow for 4 or 8 days and you get free backup size with every dress order

RTR Update – this is a monthly membership for $89/month. You can pause or cancel at any time. You select 4 styles. When you’re ready for something new, choose what to return or buy (at discount). They take care of the shipping and dry cleaning.

RTR Unlimited – this is also a monthly membership which is currently $99. You get unlimited rentals per month. Get 4 pieces on constant rotation. Keep the pieces as long as you like and swap them at any time. You can purchase pieces at the members-only discount.

Overall, I had a great experience with Rent the Runway. It’s very easy to use. After the wedding, I placed the blouse back in the original packaging and dropped it off at UPS. That’s it! I definitely plan on using them again.

I would love to know if you’ve tried Rent the Runway and what your experience has been.
