Hey guys! I know I’ve shared a few pictures of my workout routine, so I thought I would put a fitness blog together to share some additional information. I LOVE working out and I tend to workout everyday! Yes, I am #teamnodaysoff. But I feel that this works for me. Of course, I listen to my body and if I wake up one morning feeling exhausted, I take the day off. I enjoy working out very early in the morning. I feel it gets my day going, plus this is when I have the most energy.
Before my workout, I like to take a pre-workout drink. This helps give me a little energy boost before an intense workout. I try and take the least amount of supplements, but when I do, I take natural or organic products. I’ve used both Essential Amino Energy and Garden of Life Sport. The latter tends to be more mild, which I like. I don’t like anything that makes me to jittery. So, a little pre-workout drink, some great tunes and I’m ready for a great workout.
I’m all about legs and abs. I do legs twice a week with a few days in between each workout and abs EVERYDAY. Yep, you read right… abs everyday! No, you do not need to go this intense and working them out everyday does not mean you’ll get them to pop out faster. I just truly enjoy doing abs and feel great adding them to my everyday routine. Plus, you know what they say, it’s 80% diet and 20% gym. So even if you work them out everyday, you won’t see change if you don’t change your diet 🙂 .
Other than that I tend to do back, biceps, triceps, shoulders, and chest, on separate days of course. I include at least 25-30 minutes of cardio each day with the exception of leg days. On those days I just do a 15 minute warmup. As far cardio, I like to do HIIT (High-intensity interval training). This is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, recovery periods. This keeps your hear rate up and burns more fat in less time. I usually speedwalk for one minute, followed by a one-two minute sprint.
When working out with weights, I like to use gloves. I’ve found that using the half-finger gloves work best for me and prevent me from getting calluses. I purchased the Ironfist elastic force grip gloves for under $10! I absolutely love them. They’re thin, so I feel that I have a more natural grip with them versus the full on gloves. I find those to be too think and don’t allow me to get a good grasp on the weights.
My workouts are usually followed by a healthy breakfast which include protein (I’m a pescatarian, so no meat) or a protein shake. Â I also try and drink a lot of water throughout the day. The majority of my workout routine and dieting come from researching online. Of course, you have to be selective as there’s so much information, that it can be overwhelming. Just remember to do what works for you and feels right.
xoxo,
Maddy
